Another thing you have yet to consider is the fact that many people (myself included) have an addiction to meat products as well as dairy. (yes this does exist, fyi). These are the foods with the MOST sugar and really sugar is an addictive substance. It’s incredibly ableist for any vegan to put… Easily one of the strangest appropriations of ableism and “addiction” I have ever seen. Although some foods have psychoactive properties, calling everything “addiction” is absurd and offensive to people deal with/have dealt with physical and psychological dependance to an intoxicant. The action of food on the central nervous system is largely nil in comparison and the idea that meat/dairy products have high sugar content is unfounded. Cheese for example has low level opiods - but to claim “addiction” is at best insincere and at worst just a convenient excuse for being unwilling to change behavior that one clearly understands as unethical. I am glad that the OP recognizes some forms of oppression and rallies against them. Hopefully in the future they will stop prioritizing and re creating the hierarchy of which animals matter (humans first - maybe cats and dogs as well) and which ones have to die for their pleasure
There are barriers to access that exist with everything - what we eat is just one facet of this and power and privilege play a large role in what position an individual is in. This is widely recognized by people in the animal liberation movement as well as mainstream veganism. That said, draping oneself in the appropriation of anti-oppressive language is a piss poor substitute for thinking critically about human supremacy and it’s consequences. Also, the shot at straight edge and harm reduction is unnecessary - there are people bridging that gap.
